Why Must Read Chicken Soup for the Soul 20th Anniversary Edition: All Your Favorite Original Stories Plus 20 Bonus Stories for the Next 20 Years?
To be quite honest, I find that this book/collection and the stories therein (even the new ones) seem dated. Maybe the very concept at this point is dated. In the age of instant access to an infinite number of inspiring or thought-provoking stories, a concept and collection published 25 years ago, before the internet, has lost its value or sheen. At least that's my impression as someone who had never bothered to read it before. I can't comment on any of the other books in the franchise. It's possible that the more specialized books, and/or those published much more recently, will have greater usefulness and appeal. I applaud Jack Canfield and his intentions and concept. I just can't recommend this to today's audiences, even with the added material. It just does not seem compelling.
