Download NowI am an attorney (KS, MO, MI) who sat for (and passed) the February 2021 California Bar exam. I opted to take the MBE in addition to the essay exam to pad my score and take the pressure off the essay portion of the exam. I used Critical Pass MBE flashcards, this book, and SmartSheets to learn/review substantive law. I also would sometimes look at a friend's BarBri books on areas where I had questions. For practice, I did practice essays that I would submit to baressays.com for grading and I used Adaptibar to practice the MBE. I also used the barexamtoolbox.com for their podcasts and they created a study schedule for me. This book was a HUGE help. The 2/21 exam tested: evidence, contracts/remedies, community property, professional responsibility, and real property (equitable servitudes, easements, and remedies). On the Community Property question (which was mainly focused on splitting up a CP business), I was able to do well on the question because of my use of this book (SmartSheets did not cover the key issues in depth sufficiently). Because of this book, I also focused on learning professional responsibility and remedies heavily (which were tested in three questions on the essay). SmartSheets was a good supplement to this book as well (especially in professional responsibility).
