Sexy But Psycho: How the Patriarchy Uses Women’s Trauma Against Them *[ePub]

The new book from the bestselling author of Why Women Are Blamed for Everything Angry, opinionated, mouthy, aggressive, hysterical, mad, disordered, crazy, psycho, delusional, borderline, hormonal . . . Women have long been pathologized, locked up and medicated for not conforming to whichever norms or stereotypes are expected of them in that time and space. Sexy But Psycho argues that there is a specific purpose to convincing women and girls that they are mentally ill, as the world avoids addressing violence against women and their centuries of ignored trauma. Why Must Read Sexy But Psycho: How the Patriarchy Uses Women’s Trauma Against Them?

I am currently training to be a nurse and in January completed a placement in a community mental health team. This book is eye-opening! I wish I had it to hand sooner to be able to question some of the practices going on to understand their rationale behind some decisions being made and access to the right therapy (although I did see some amazing practice also). Going forward this will really inform my practice, currently I plan on completing my studies and then going into womens health or sexual health services. Thank you so much for another amazing piece of work!
