Why Must Read A Beginner's Guide to American Mah Jongg: How to Play the Game & Win?
My hubby and I are new to Mah Jongg and have been watching YouTube videos to learn the basics. Sometimes, the videos go way to fast for us to follow or see the examples of tiles long enough. Videos are great but there's nothing like sitting down with a drink of your choice and a print book to read and re-read info at your own learning pace. That's where this excellent book comes in. Everything from the most basic of basics to strategy tips (we haven't gotten that far yet), is clearly explained in down to earth terms that are geared to the newest player. We found the section on deciding what category to play the most helpful so far. This is the most complicated part for us, and even though we watched many videos on this subject, nothing compared to the explanations given in this book. We read this chapter at least 3 times and will probably refer to it again. The exercises that follow the explanations are a wonderful way to practice the lesson, and by doing the ones on choosing the right category, we are starting to make some sense on how to make this important decision. We heartily recommend this book for brand new beginnners, and if you haven't played for a while, this would be a great refresher course.
