Download NowThis is a picture book, so I thought it might be of interest for a toddler. I didn't read it by myself at first, so I was already a bit taken aback when I read the opening "I stole the big fish's hat." I understand the reviewers who say that the book is humorous and that the humor is dark. I just don't understand who the target reader is. I enjoy dark humor, but I'm not about to go watch Louis CK with my kid... I don't know. I returned it because I don't see the purpose of introducing and explaining the concept of theft to my young child. I start finding many of these newly awarded books a bit too out there for the actual children. It's as if the writers are trying to appeal to the adults who buy and read these books to their kids.
